一対の梅

　本校の敷地には、四季折々の移ろいを感じさせる多彩な植物が植えられています。その中でもひと際目を引くのが、仲良く寄り添うように立つ一対の梅の木です。一方は、清らかで凛とした佇まいが春の息吹をそっと伝える白梅。もう一方は、鮮やかで気高い存在感を放ち、見る者に力強く春の到来を告げる紅梅です。

The school grounds are planted with a variety of plants that give a sense of the changing seasons. Among them, the most eye-catching are a pair of plum trees standing side by side. One is a white plum tree with a pure and dignified appearance that gently conveys the breath of spring. The other is a red plum tree that exudes a vivid and dignified presence, powerfully announcing to the viewer the arrival of spring.

　白と紅が織りなすコントラストは、まるで自然が描いた一幅の絵画のよう。今年は例年よりも寒さが長引いたためか、開花が少し遅れたようですが、そのおかげでより一層鮮やかな美しさを見せてくれています。忙しい日常の中で、この自然が生む風景に心を癒されるひとときを大切にしたいものです。

The contrast between white and red is like a painting by nature. This year, the cold weather lasted longer than usual, so the flowers seem to have bloomed a little later, but thanks to that, they are now even more vibrantly beautiful. In the midst of our busy daily lives, we should cherish the time to relax and enjoy the scenery created by nature.

　古くから語り継がれてきた言葉に「梅はその花の香りで自らを語る」というものがあります。この言葉と、市邨学園の理念である「一に人物、二に技倆」は、どちらも外見や形式ではなく、内面的な価値や本質を重視するという精神が共通しています。「梅はその花の香りで自らを語る」とは、梅の花が見た目の派手さだけではなく、その香りでもって魅力を伝えるように、人間もまた内面の誠実さや本質的な美しさで周囲に価値を示すべきだという教えを含んでいます。一方、市邨学園の理念である「一に人物、二に技倆」は、「人」としての成長を重視し、技倆や能力はその後に続くものであるという教育哲学を表現しています。

　学問やスキルが重要であることは言うまでもありませんが、それ以上に人間性や誠実さといった「香り」のように目に見えない魅力を身につけることが大切です。美しく香る梅の花を眺めるたびに、自分自身もどのように「香りで語れる」存在になれるかを考えてみたいものです。

There is an old saying that “Plum blossoms speak for themselves with the fragrance of their flowers.” This saying and Ichimura Gakuen’s philosophy, “Character first, skill second,” are both based on a common spirit of emphasizing inner value and essence, rather than appearance or form. “Plum blossoms speak for themselves with the fragrance of their flowers” includes the teaching that just as plum blossoms convey their charm not only through their flashy appearance but also through their fragrance, humans should also show their value to those around them with their inner sincerity and essential beauty. On the other hand, Ichimura Gakuen’s philosophy, “Character first, skill second,” expresses an educational philosophy that emphasizes growth as a “person,” and that skills and abilities follow after that.

It goes without saying that academics and skills are important, but it is even more important to acquire invisible charms like “fragrance,” such as humanity and sincerity. Every time you look at the beautifully fragrant plum blossoms, you should think about how you yourself can become a person who can “speak with fragrance.”
